Skip Bin Hire FAQs

What size skip bin do I need?

For a bathroom reno a 3m³ or 4m³ is usually right, a kitchen reno 4m³ or 6m³, and a full strip-out or extension 9m³ or 12m³. See our skip bin size guide, or call us and we’ll help.

Do your skip bins have weight limits?

Heavy waste bins (2m³ to 8m³) have no weight limit. General household and green waste bins have no weight limit in the 2m³, 3m³ and 4m³. The 6m³ includes 1 tonne, the 8m³ 1.5 tonnes, the 9m³ 2 tonnes and the 12m³ 2.2 tonnes. Light builders bins include 2.5 tonnes (9m³) and 3 tonnes (12m³). Anything over the included weight is $32 per 100 kg. General and green waste bins, in every size, are for household rubbish and garden waste only: no soil, concrete, bricks, tiles, renovation waste or other building products. If you have building waste, or large amounts of MDF cabinets and furniture, you’ll need to upgrade to a builders bin. Soil, concrete, bricks and tiles can go in our 2m³ to 8m³ builders & mixed bins with no weight limit, but not in the 9m³ or 12m³ light builders bins.

Is there a cheaper price for concrete?

Yes. If your load is 100% concrete (reo is fine) we have a cheaper concrete-only price. It can’t be mixed with bricks, tiles or other waste.

Can I get an excavator and a skip bin delivered at the same time?

Yes. Book an excavator, Dingo or tracked dumper with your skip bin and we’ll deliver them together.

Can I get same-day delivery?

Yes – book before 11am and we can usually deliver the same day. Conditions apply.

How long can I keep the skip bin?

Standard hire is 7 days. If you need it longer, call us and we can arrange an extension.

Do I need a council permit?

Not if the bin fits on your property. If it has to go on the road or nature strip you need a council permit. We arrange it for you, and for Darebin jobs there’s no permit charge. See skip bin permits in Darebin.

What can’t go in a skip bin?

Asbestos, poisons, chemicals, paints, liquids, gas bottles, food scraps, tree stumps, synthetic grass and silica dust. Mattresses and tyres attract a surcharge. See what can go in a skip bin.

Do you offer trade prices?

Yes – we have a trade price list for builders and regular customers, and fast swap-overs. Call us to set it up.

Which areas do you deliver to?

Darebin and Melbourne’s northern suburbs, including Preston, Reservoir, Northcote, Thornbury, Fairfield, Alphington, Kingsbury, Bundoora and Macleod. See all areas.
